James Holden helps curate Utrecht festival Le Guess Who? in 2017

- Hieroglyphic Being, Cate Le Bon and Sex Swing are among the acts selected by the UK artist to appear at this year's edition.
- James Holden has curated part of the lineup for this year's Le Guess Who? festival in Utrecht. The UK artist's picks run the gamut from the hardware techno of Hieroglyphic Being to Moroccan Gnawa musician Maâlem Houssam Guinia, whose late father, Mahmoud, Holden collaborated with in 2014. Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon will perform solo on the piano, and there are additional slots for XAM Duo, Jerusalem In My Heart, London-based six piece Sex Swing and accordion maestro Mario Batkovic. Holden will also perform live with his new band, The Animal Spirits. Holden is one of several artists helping to curate the event, which will run from November 9th through 12th at various venues across the Dutch city. The likes of Grouper, Shabazz Palaces and Dutch percussionist Han Bennink are also onboard, hosting acts such as Fhloston Paradigm, Coby Sey and Gonjasufi.
