- Entropien I, credited to Väisänen and Dresselhaus's renamed project die Angel, is out next week on Cosmo Rhythmatic.
Finnish producer Ilpo Väisänen has teamed up again with German artist Dirk Dresselhaus, AKA Schneider TM, this time for an album dedicated to Väisänen's late Pan Sonic partner Mika Vainio.
Entropien I is the eighth full-length to come from Väisänen and Dresselhaus's electro-acoustic project, and the first they've made as die Angel—the other seven were credited to Angel. The album gets its name from the Finnish word, and German plural, for entropy, a measure of thermodynamic disorder within a system. We're told to expect "a complex physicality" across seven tracks, two of which feature fellow experimental musician (and prior Angel collaborator) Oren Ambarchi, that "break down the soul of noise." It's due out next week on Cosmo Rhythmatic.
Vainio, who was known for his work in Pan Sonic and many other solo and collaborative efforts, including a 2015 album for Cosmo Rhythmatic produced alongside Franck Vigroux, died in April at age 53. RA surveyed his wide-ranging output here.
We last heard from Väisänen and Dresselhaus's collaboration in 2014, with the Angel album Terra Null. that also featured Hildur Guðnadóttir and Lucio Capece, and Väisänen resurfaced earlier this year with a new solo album from his I-LP-O In Dub alias.
Listen to a Entropien I track "Terminen Kevat."
