Still Music is releasing a compilation of productions from the catalogue of Chicago proto-house label Let's Dance.
Titled Let's Dance Records: Mike Macharello & Duane Thamm Jr. Chicago 1983-85, the 11-track package will be available on four-LP vinyl and CD formats on January 30th. The collection draws key tracks from the label's catalogue, including sought-after classics like Duane Thamm Jr.'s "Jump Trax" (which routinely sells for over $100 on the second hand market) and "Single Girl" by Knight Action and Sedenia.
Let's Dance was founded in 1983 by Mike Macharello, a DJ who began in Chicago's roller rinks before moving on to WBMX radio and the city's club scene. After Let's Dance ceased operations in 1985, Macharello founded Play House Records in 1986 (Still Music has plans to reissue highlights from its catalogue in the future). Duane Thamm Jr. was a key producer for Let's Dance and ran a studio out of his parent's basement called Reel To Reel. Apart from running Let's Dance and Play House with Macharello, he engineered and produced numerous house tracks in the '80s and '90s.
