- Houston artists DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C are behind the remixed LP, Drank.
Brainfeeder is putting out a chopped and screwed rework of Thundercat's 2017 album Drunk next month.
The remixes all come from DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C, two members of the Houston hip-hop crew The Chopstars. They're known for crafting boozy, slowed-down versions of records from the likes of Drake, Frank Ocean and 2 Chainz. (The group is heavily influenced by DJ Screw, a pioneer of the chopped and crewed style, who died in 2000.)
The LP originally came out last year as an unofficial release, and now, with Thundercat's approval, Brainfeeder is giving it a proper issue on two slabs of purple wax and on CD. "If you got Drunk," Thundercat says, "It's only right that you get Drank."
Drunk garnered widespread praise when it came out last year, including an RA Recommends stamp of approval.
