Simian Mobile Disco will release a new album in May.
Murmurations, James Ford and Jas Shaw's fifth full-length, features vocals from East London's Deep Throat Choir. After initially swapping ideas with the choir's director, Luisa Gerstein, the duo decided to invite the whole team down to Shaw's studio in the British countryside. "Listening to them moving their voices around a tone, altering the timbre, making chords, was like working with an incredible new synthesiser," said Shaw.
Murmurations, which is out on May 11th through Wichita, is the first release from the duo since they issued a ten-year retrospective compilation—plus a remastered version of Attack Decay Sustain Release and a collection of B-sides and remixes—in October 2017. They'll perform the new album live alongside Deep Throat Choir at the Barbican on April 4th, with Fatima Al Qadiri supporting.
