  • London-based DJ and Phonox resident HAAi is putting out her first full EP next month. Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik sees Teneil Throssell drawing on her love of psychedelic rock and world music. The five-track record includes guest spots from Fay Milton (of UK band Savages) and Taigen Kawabe (of Japan's Bo Ningen). One cut, the over-ten-minute-long "Growing Up With Muscle Cars," is an homage to the producer's stepfather, who repairs and restores muscle cars, and her memories of going to races with him when she was young. Throssell will give the EP a digital release first on July 5th through her Coconut Beats label, before issuing it on wax later in the year. A couple nights later, on July 7th, she'll kick off a summer-long run of eight Coconut Beats parties at Phonox, with lineups that feature the likes of Auntie Flo, DJ Nobu and Gilles Peterson. Listen to "Growing Up With Muscle Cars."
