  • Discogs now has a user-built music database with more than 10 million total releases. The website's staff shared details of its achievement in a blog post earlier today—though they say it's "quite hard" to tell which exact release was its 10 millionth, given there are around 4,000 to 5,000 entries added each day. Since Discogs founder Kevin Lewandowski entered the first release, Stockholm, a double-pack by Jesper Dahlbäck's The Persuader alias, back in September 2000, some 291,000 people have been involved in submitting releases. That number has jumped around 20% each year over the past decade. We're also told that 137 people have each added more than 5,000 releases, making that group responsible for 11% of the website's entire database. The top contributor is Diognes_The_Fox, credited with more than 48,000 submissions, or an average of around 10 per day over the user's 13 years on the site. Discogs has also introduced new features to sort an artist's releases by individual tracks and search for specific compositions.
