Next up on Teklife is an album from Heavee called WFM, due out September 7th.
The Chicago juke and footwork producer recruited fellow Teklife members DJ Phil, Gant-Man, DJ Paypal and Sirr Tmo for guest spots on the album. There's also a song he wrote with DJ Rashad back in 2013, "It's Wack," which was previously only available via the Flying Lotus-curated radio station in Grand Theft Auto V. The eight-track WFM moves between hip-hop and more traditional footwork tracks, with an emphasis on synthesizers and sound design that's a departure from Heavee's usual style.
"Usually in my method of production," he says, "synths or sounds come somewhat close to last, likely after I find structure or rhythm. Basically, it's not something I particularly go for first, but this time around they became the building blocks."
Heavee contributed to the Teklife compilation from last year, On Life, as well as the Fractal Fantasy compilation Visceral Minds 2.
