The groove is definitely in the house when Mr Kenny Hawkes steps up to the decks and lets rip his booty-shaking collection of all things house. Having become such a prolific international DJ and producer on the dance music scene, it seems somewhat essential that NRK pass the nite:life gauntlet to Kenny for numero 017.
The history speaks for itself: the seminal pirate radio show "Girls FM" with Luke Solomon, London's seven year Space club (which speaks volumes in itself) and a dedication to all things that became commonly known as "Deep House".
nite:life 017 serves up a reminder that Kenny can stray and blend any house style he cares too. The mix wanders seamlessly from an achingly cool hiphouse remix from Brooks, the vocal stormer Mary 'Its Over', to dirty Detroit electronic from Octave One, deep house classics and into minimal electronic sonic warps. Just like his very own productions (namecheck "Play the Game"), expect heavy weight basslines throughout.
