  • This Saturday 13 December marks the end of an institution with the last episode of monthly electro night Meccanoid at Pony in Melbourne. The ever popular night has outgrown the tiny space at Pony and will hopefully come back bigger and better at a new venue in 2004. The theme for this month’s party is punk rockers and you’re invited to dress up in your best Doc Martin’s, tartan and spikey hair. You can expect belligerent beats, rebellious robotics, sneering synths and dangerous disco, when special guest Pete Kung smashes the no wave punk funk over the dancefloor. DJs Quirk and Glitch will incite a robotic riot with slamming sounds and boisterous basslines, while Agent 86 hacks and slashes the flag of the electro-establishment and Toupee curls her lip and gives 2 fingers to yesterday’s heroes with uncompromising crass’n’clash electro-smash bizness. Hurrah Meccanoid at the punk sensation party this weekend. Entry is only $10 or $8 in costume. See ya next year Meccanoid robots!
