  • The New York Times publication has reported that the owner and two top executives of a popular dance music venue Hell's Kitchen were arrested by police under suspicion of drug related offences. An early-morning raid at the ‘Sound Factory club’ took place after authorities thought the venue was being used as a “Stash House” for illicit substances and dealing was taking place on the premises. The United States attorney for New York’s Southern District David Kelly, said overdoses at the club were far too common and the premises even had a special room where security guards tried to revive club goers who had consumed an excessive amount of drugs as an alternative to calling 911. Two people have died at the club since 2000. The accused owners and managers of ‘The Sound Factory’ each face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The Sound Factory grosses more than US$6 Million a year in entrance fees alone and is seen as an all night party house with party goers often not arriving until the early morning hours and leaving in the afternoon. RA will keep you posted as to the developments on this case.
