  • Fabric, arguably the best club in the world over the past half a decade since its arrival in London’s East End will celebrate its Fifth Birthday in huge style this weekend over three nights this October. The biggest and best names in the business have played there, their superb musical policy has unearthed some gems and all those who haven’t played in any of Fabrics three rooms would do so at the drop of a 12”. Keith Reilly, owner of the club knows the benefits of acceptance by the London public and is truly grateful:
"It’s always nice to celebrate a birthday, but it only measures an increment of time. I prefer to celebrate the freedom our public has gifted us. I feel truly blessed that we have never been forced to deviate from the path we chose. I thank each and every last person that ever came along to support what we do."
To be a Fabric resident you have needed something special in the eyes of the club and to be able to deliver a fresh sound every time you play. Two of the most popular DJ’s to hold this honour are Craig Richards and Ali B. Speaking about the last 5 years there is obvious excitement and pride associated:
Craig Richards (fabric resident): "One of the main reasons for playing at fabric every week is that it's so good. A wonderfully receptive audience makes the experience for the DJ very comfortable. The club is programmed by music lovers for music lovers and there is a modesty of approach rarely found in a business of this nature. The aim is to let the music doing the talking: it was five years ago and it still is today. The club is merely a platform to allow the very best in modern electronic music the exposure it deserves. It's also a particularly good place to lose your self for a few hours of a weekend!" Ali B (FABRICLIVE resident): "Being a resident DJ for the last five years has been a real privilege. The sound system is the best I have played on anywhere in the world and the teams attention to detail is second to none. Initially, with the programming on Friday nights, we really stuck our necks out, determined to do something very different to what was out there at the time. The thousands of like minded people that have been packing the place out ever since is testament to getting this right and further proof that club culture in the UK’s never been more alive."
