Lee Coombs has decided that it's time...time to move on from one of breakbeat's finest labels and to establish his own. The first artist to sign to the popular London based home of broken beats back in 1998, both Lee and the label have continued to build a reputation for quality over the past 7 years, however he will now devote his time and energy to 'Thrust Recrodings'. The benefits in running your own label, especially the complete creative freedom of the output for his own music and that of artists he enjoys is an obvious excitement to one of break beats leading voices. In the statement released by Coombs himself, he sees this as a new opportunity for him, and that he wishes his former record label the best for its future. "After many great years of releasing music with Finger Lickin' Records, I have decided to move on and concentrate on my own label, Thrust Recordings. The best way to do that is to release through Thrust along side its current roster. I became the first artist to sign to FLR back in 1998 and feel that we have grown together and achieved a huge amount. We have certainly seen the breakbeat scene develop to the huge worldwide phenomenon that it is, and are happy with the knowledge that we all played a significant part in that.
Over the last few years I have been developing my sound and feel that my own Thrust Recordings is the right place for this to continue. I have had many wonderful years recording music and djing with Finger Lickin’ and I wish them all the best for the future. Big thanks to Abel, Justin, Jem, and Leah. Along with other labels such as Lot49, Thrust, and myself are committed to releasing high quality Tech Funk, a strand of Breakbeat that encompasses Electro, Techno, and in my case, good old fashioned ACID House!"
14 years at the top of the game has seen him build a huge fan base and expect more of the Coombs winning formula to be siphoned through ‘Thrust Recordings’.
