  • Now is the time to catch Jamie Lidell in action! He'll be playing live on Saturday 28 January at Melbourne's Revolver nightclub supported by Sydney's Mad Racket DJs Simon Caldwell, Ken Cloud, Jimmi James and Melbourne's DJ Lynt and Ant J Steep. Jamie Lidell is a modern soul innovator and future funk upsetter who has travelled the road from electronic beat scientist to one-man-Motown-band-meets-beatbox/madman. He may sound like one of your favourite 70's soul singers but his songs and show are truly original. His most recent release was the album "Multiply" (Warp/Inertia) in 2005 . With it Jamie eschewed the unabashed laptop glitch of his 2000 solo album, "Muddlin Gear" in search the essence of soul. Lidell's 2002 techno-funk liaison Super_Collider (with Christian Vogel) was a step in that direction. Lidell's sound has come to fruition though with "Multiply" which has seen the British artist has fully embraced the sound of old Motown, Stax/Volt, James Brown and early Prince and Michael Jackson to produce a satisfyingly nostalgic brand of urban dance music. "Multiply" represented a shift from laptop to live and captured a fresh spirit of songwriting and performance. Recorded essentially live in Berlin with the likes of Mocky and Gonzales, "Multiply" was one of the freshest albums of 2005, blending past soul with future funk. "Multiply" has been critically acclaimed and Lidell's ensuing shows around Europe have furthered his reputation as a great producer and performer. Lidell's live show is bound to be unique and refreshing! Catch a sneak preview of Lidell's live show here.
