  • After a somewhat turbulent 2005 full of ups and downs, the international Pacha Group has decided not to renew its contract with the venue which currently has the licence to use the Pacha name in Hamburg. In the past year, Pacha Hamburg had tried to let the spirit of the global clubbing brand known for its logo featuring two cherries, have more reign by booking international DJs in cooperation with the original Pacha in Ibiza. It had also tried to embrace similar Ibiza-like event concepts in a bid to get party-goers through the door. However the clubbing masses in Hamburg hadn't come flocking as expected. Plans to open an additional restaurant and a terrace on the roof had also failed and with local operator Rentara AG not optimistic about the club's future and unable to to fulfill the conditions of the licencing contract on top of the increasing licensing fees, the financial viability of the club had come under a cloud. One wonders whether Pacha will now follow in the footsteps of Ministry of Sound and set its next sights set on the Asia region, where MoS has set up superclubs in both the cities of Taipei and Singapore.
