Bearback the slightly twisted production outfit consisting of Philadelphia's Jay Haze and Zurich's Samim (one half of Samim & Michal) have released their latest album, 'Under The Influence' on Tuning Spork.
After meeting in 1999, Haze and Samim released their first musical collaboration as Bearback early last year on Tuning Spork Family Affair, a sub-label dedicated to Tuning Spork artist collaborations. Once described as the 'most ironic producers in the minimal scene', on this latest album 'Under the Influence', the pair keep one eye fixed on the dancefloor but again showcase their signature Bearback vocals, from North Philly former street hustler Lil’ Dirrty Ghetto Bastard and East L.A's MC Big Bully.
Two different versions of the album will be released with the double vinyl LP featuring the more dance-oriented cuts and the CD showcasing some of the slower, funkier pieces that emerged from their spontaneous studio jams and impromptu lyrics.
Combining the bounce and flow from all relevant genres of funk, techno, electro, and hip hop, on 'Under The Influence', Jay Haze and Samim show us the heart and soul of Bearback, 'the party, the freak and the funk'.
