  • Out of Orbit Recordings has opened its release account for 2006 with "The Cloudpainter EP" from underground oldschool hero, Robert Babicz. After releasing his first 12” on legendary German acid label Labworks, Cologne's Robert Babicz gained notoriety for a a string of influential techno singles in the late nineties under his Rob Acid alias. In the past twelve months, Babicz has cemented a niche for his organic sounding, analogue-based productions with big releases on Punkt ("Battlestar"), Treibstoff ("Organic Boogie"), K2 ("Mister Head/Sonntag") and Audiomatique ("Prism"). He has also been responsible for the debut release, "My Blue Car", on new label Barbarella which saw Out of Orbit label boss, Martinez on remix duties. On this latest three-track release, "The Cloudpainter EP", Robert Babicz again illustrates his considerable diversity as a producer. “Little Moon” and its rolling sub-bass is a deep urgent groover, while the 'heart shattering trance line' of the title track will steal hearts, and more than just a few progressive heads. On “Cristal Garden” Babicz again shows off some of the more minimal techno mechanics he has become renowned for. Robert Babicz - "The Cloudpainter EP" is out now on Out of Orbit Recordings.
