  • Australian revellers can get a slice of festival action when Parklife hits the green and grassy lawns of Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth this spring. Coldcut, Krafty Cuts and Cut Chemist are a few of the artists who will play all four festival dates of the nationwide tour. Parklife is another of the festivals spearheaded by Sydney's Fuzzy promotion group. The inaugural event, held back in the year 2000, was the first outdoor mass dance event to be held in Sydney's Centennial Parklands. The early Parklife festivals were headlined by West Coast house artists such as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina but in recent years the festival has included breaks and hip hop artists like Rennie Pilgrem and Roots Manuva. As the near-nationwide (Adelaide still digs hardcore) obsession with house and breaks has got bigger, so too have Fuzzy's ambitions and for the first time in 2005, Parklife festivals also took place in Brisbane and Perth. This year, Melbourne gets in on the action, bringing the total number of Parklife events to four. Parklife will take place in late September and early October and will feature rock, electro, hip-hop, dub, breaks, beats, turntablism and more. International acts playing some or all of this year's Parklife festival dates include Coldcut, Cut Chemist, Freeform Five, Ian Pooley, Krafty Kuts, Mark Farina, Mattafix, Mixmaster Mike, Peter Hook of New Order, Stanton Warriors, Tim Deluxe, Who Made Who, Jay-J & Latrice and Touche. The headliners will be joined by local DJs and live acts in each capital city. Parklife 2006 Festival Dates September 23 Venue TBA, Melbourne September 30 South Bank Cultural Forecourt, Brisbane October 1 Kippax Lake Moore Park, Sydney October 2 The Deen, The Street & The Shed, Perth Tickets are currently on sale for the Sydney and Perth events with tickets for the Melbourne and Brisbane legs available from July 24th, 2006.
