  • August 26, 2006. Radioactivity is a weekly roundup of the best radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets online. Making the best use of that expensive broadband connection. *** Clubnights: YouFM's ClubNight Peaktime show on Saturday, August 26 features Get Physical electrohouser DJ T. spinning from 10:00 p.m - 12:00 a.m GMT+1 while the Rewind show replays last week's guest mix from Magda straight afterwards from midnight - 2 a.m GMT+1. Click on the Webradio icon at the top of the page to listen to the live stream. If you can't figure out the timezones, check out minimal bigshots Dominik Eulberg, Heiko M/S/O (okay, not such a bigshot) and Magda herself on their Club Channel which runs 24/7 [real] [WMA] [mp3]. And for the spotters, the playlists. The Timewriter: Here's a couple of mixes by The Timewriter, aka Jean Frank Cochois, who's been releasing smooth house mixes on Plastic City for nigh on ten years now. If you like that middle ground between house and tech, but value good mixing above all, these will be for you. Mix one from February 2006 is 61 mins, 84,9 MB (192 kbps) and mix two is 73 mins, 84,1 MB (160 kbps). Right click the links to download. [via bb.4four.org] Smart house: It's in Chicago, the home of house, so it's kinda fitting that majority of the sets from The Smart Bar are in that vein. Check out recent sets from Ben Watt, Mark Farina Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon, but if you're in a dance punk mood, MSTRKRFT might shake you up. Keep your eyes peeled on the site too, it looks like Butane, Steve Bug and Ellen Allien & Apparat are coming to The Smart Bar soon, so fingers crossed for sets. JZ: Last week Proton Radio aired the Part 1 mix of James Zabiela's latest '4' series, a collection of four promo mixes that he usually makes around DJ mag Top 100 Poll voting time. The remaining sets will be broadcast each Wednesday for the next three weeks, and unlike other Proton mixes you can download them for free even after they've aired. The first mix leaned towards deep tech house, including cuts by Jimpster, Phonique and Loco Dice and if you can get past the obvious grab for votes in THAT poll, it's worth tuning in to find out what the young blonde scratch muppet is playing these days. Download part one from last week. Part two will be broadcast and available to download on Proton this Wednesday. Connaisseur: Mark your calendars for next Thursday and tune into Meerestief because they've got a Connaisseur label special with a mix by label fav Ripperton [Lazy Fat People] and an interview with Connaisseur boss Alex Flitsch. Who are Connaisseur? They're a German label on fire these days crossing minimal production with a lush tunefulness, releasing the likes of Fairmont, Patrick Chardronnet and Ripperton himself. Tune in directly Thursday 3pm-4pm GMT+1. Older Ripperton mixes for d/l. There you have it. If you have any links to fantastic music which you want to share with the world, post them in the forum or send 'em along to [email protected] with the subject line 'Radioactivity'. *** Radioactivity - delivered to your door with the milk every Saturday morning GMT.
