This year's Australian Dance Music Awards take place at Sydney nightclub Home in November. All categories except one will be decided by public voting plus there's a chance for voters to win a prize pack of Allen & Heath and Stanton goodies.
The Australian Dance Music Awards were skipped last year (no good dance music down under in 2004-5?) but the good news is that they return again this November. And what a difference two years makes. Gone are the progressive and breaks acts of yesteryear - in their place are indie-electro rockers The Presets, indie-disco poppers Cut Copy plus SH-101 whiz Deepchild. Hip-hop artists have also fared well again with N'Fa and the Hilltop Hoods receiving several nominations.
The nominees for each category were chosen by a panel of dance music industry members including representatives from record labels and the media. However there are a few oddballs such as Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian and the absence of this year's DMC winner DJ Perplex from the Turntablists category.
All categories except for the Outstanding Contribution to Dance will be decided by public vote with several people's choice awards including Best International DJ, Best Event and Best Radio Show. Voters can also choose the Best Club Night and Best DJ for each state.

Voting for the Australian Dance Music Awards starts today September 25th, 2006 and closes on October 23rd, 2006. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Sydney nightclub Home on November 17th, 2006. Tickets to the awards ceremony, which for the first time will be open to the public, are now on sale.
