Hot techno imprint Delsin bets on Scotsman Vince Watson for their latest LP release. Watson’s ‘The eMotion Sequence’ is out now.
Is Amsterdam the new Motor City? The Dutch are well known for their love affair with techno, and Amsterdam’s Delsin Records have been the centre of the Dutch twenty-first century reinvention of the Michigan form. It’s a conscious thing too – as their mission statement puts it: “We’re taking over twenty years of techno history and mythology and creating a new pattern that resonates like the original.” But don’t look for pure revivalism because Delsin sounds fresh in 2006: recent 12” from Shed, Redshape and D5 have been picked up by the likes of Cassy, Josh Wink and Tobias Becker.
Latest issue from Delsin is a full-lengther from Glaswegian Vince Watson, who has a history that stretches back to releases on Dave Angel’s Rotation label in the mid-nineties. Always a Detroit head, Watson has put out more albums than most, including ‘Biologique’ and ‘Moments in Time’ on Aloha, the latter of which was also released on legendary New York house label Ibadan. Vince set up his own label Bio Music in 2000, which so far has issued records by Deetron, Steve Rachmad, Joris Voorn (there’s the Dutch connection again). Recently Vince has also been at the remix desk, working on tracks from Turner, The Black Dog and Laurent Garnier.
And it seems like Watson’s been a busy boy – he also has another full album in the works to be released on Laurent Garnier’s F Communications. Stay tuned for details.
