  • Label head James Holden is spinning alongside new Border signings Misstress Barbara and Mirko at the WMC Border Showcase this year. Don't expect straight-up house grooves at a Border party: label head James Holden is more likely to pull out wonked out trance records and Aphex Twin b-sides than anything feelgood for his WMC showcase. "What I want to do is make electronic music that feels more human and more live - just letting the machines malfunction and me be barely in control of them," says Holden. "You just need to know where to inject the life into it, and how to, and then the computer can become an instrument just like any other. Computer music is naff really, unless it has that punk feel. Those dirty bits. That's what makes it human, and that's what I'm focusing on now." Holden will be joined by Misstress Barbara, who has ditched the harder stuff for more experimental fare on her latest Border 12" 'Barcelona', while third on the bill is Mirko, one half of Border signings Lazy Fat People, responsible for the micro-rave anthems 'Big City' and 'Dark Water' from 2006. If you're a Border commie, you'll know you'll be there, both those after more experimental and indie-oriented sounds would do well to bet on Border at B.E.D for the WMC. The Border Community Showcase takes place at B.E.D on Tuesday, March 20, 2007.
