- Mr. Brinkmann steers away from techno and into singer-songwriter territory on his new album.
Experimental techno producer Thomas Brinkmann steers away from clicks and cuts and into singer songwriter territory on his latest album When Horses Die due out in March.
The follow-up to Klick/Revolution from 2006, When Horses Die is a U-turn for Mr. Brinkmann, featuring ten proper songs in the vein of Nick Cave, Spacemen 3 or Suicide perhaps. Heavy on the pianos, cellos and distorted guitars, When Horses Die features lyrics penned by Tuxedomoon's Winston Tong, while ‘Spiral’ is dedicated to Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty beach installation on the shore of Utah's Great Salt Lake.
