Dial label owner Peter Kersten will release his second full-length under the Sten alias, entitled The Essence, in September.
Hyper-prolific Peter M. Kersten just can't stop making music. Later this year, it's his dancefloor alias Sten that will be getting the full-length treatment once again, following on from 2004's Leaving the Frantic. Dancefloor is a relative term when it comes to Kersten's work, of course. The intensely dark and musical tunes that come out under Sten and his more celebrated Lawrence moniker have always had more to do with making listeners feel than dance.
That much won't change, if Kersten's recent Smallville and Dial 12-inches under the Sten alias are anything to go by. Instead, The Essence promises to once again be what Dial is calling "a deep journey from Hamburg via Berlin and Detroit City to reach the stars," adding that the album is yet another "melancholic twist to Detroit’s legacy."
