Wolfgang Voigt will play live as Gas for the first time this September in Leipzig.
It's been a busy year for Voigt, what with a new single with Jörg Burger, the reissue of his four Gas albums, and the (still-awaited) book of photographs on Raster-Noton. (The label now says August 4th.) But things are about to get even busier.
Today, Kompakt revealed that Voigt will be performing for the first time under this Gas moniker in a world premiere performance at Leipzig's Centraltheater. On September 28th, you can expect to melt into those red opera seats and get enveloped by what RA's Joshua Meggitt called "a profound meditation on music and history."
Also profound? The fact that Voigt will also be reviving the Profan label later this year. A 12-inch called "Freiland / Klaviermusik" is set to drop before Kompakt's Total 9 is released in September. Minimal's revenge? Only time will tell...
