  • The oft-sampled family affair of a live band ESG will reunite after nearly a year-long hiatus in which the band was thought to be done for good this week in New York City. On Saturday, Renee, Valerie and Marie Scroggins will take the stage with Leroy Glover, David Miles and Nicole Nicholas as the new version of the group. In the middle of last year, Valerie hit the news for other reasons: she was indicted by a grand jury for taking more than $13,000 in workers' compensation payments from the city of New York. She told her employer, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), that she suffered a shoulder injury in September 2006 that prevented her from doing her day job as a bus driver. She was found out when videos of her drumming happily behind the band were uncovered by an MTA investigator.
