  • New York clubbing institution APT was shut down late last week. The venue, which has seen some of the world's most respected underground DJs play in its basement, was shut by authorities on Friday, October 17th. While information is still sketchy, APT's doors had a sign that claimed that the club was being shut down for "criminal sale or possession of controlled substances or marijuana." The closure was yet another example of local authorities cracking down on club land: Reports from clubgoers have indicated that Cielo, a venue nearby, has ratcheted up its security considerably in recent months and The Porch, a tiny yet dependable venue for early evening fun, has also been forced to close its doors. But while many clubs don't recover from such harassment, it looks as though APT will be fine for the time being. Despite having to move events early on in the week, we hear from reliable sources that Friday night's Moodymann and Rick Wilhite show will go on as scheduled.
