Berlin-based DJ/producer Bloody Mary has announced details of her debut album, Black Pearl.
Set for release in June, the effort will be a little bit different than her usual fare for labels such as Sender and Contexterrior. Mary has stated that she read the work of French poet Charles Baudelaire and became inspired by the following passage from his famed The Flowers of Evil:Upon the satin back of soft avalanches,
Dying, she gives herself over to long swooning,
And lets her eyes drift over white visions
That rise into the azure sky like flowers blooming.
What that seems to mean is that in addition to stripped down techno, we'll also be getting different rhythms and plenty of melody along the way. The record will find its way out into the world on Jay Haze's Contexterrior imprint and will include a rework of the title track from the head man himself, along with a remix from Sascha Funke.
