- The experimental hip-hop producer returns with two new albums later this year.
Guillermo Scott Herren will return to his Prefuse 73 moniker in April for an album entitled Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian.
The record gets its name from Herren's use of Ampex tape in the recording process. Herren turned his back on digital recording techniques in order to give the album a more vintage sound. Ampexian is also a throwback for Herren in that it once again sees him in DJ mode, compiling 29 short productions (most less than a minute long) into a seamless, beat-driven mix.
As if that wasn't enough, Herren is also planning to release an album later in the year as Diamond Watch Wrist, which is a new band project with manic Hella drummer Zach Hill. Expect to hear a very different side of his sound when that release drops in May.
