  • Berlin imprint Vakant will celebrate 5 years of service next Saturday July 4th with a shindig at the city's indoor/outdoor Rechenzentrum/Funkpark. It was Alex Smoke's Simple Things EP back in 2004 that kick-started the label that became synonymous with the buzzwords 'Berlin' and 'minimal' during the sound's perceived boom time during the mid-to-late '00s. To mark their five years of existence, the imprint has opted to eschew their regular tie-in with the Watergate venue, and instead take advantage of the indoor/outdoor slant offered by Rechenzentrum/Funkpark. Label mainstays Mathias Kaden and Onur Özer will head-up the night portion of the event with their only back-to-back set of 2009, and they'll be joined by Alex Smoke and Tolga Fidan who will both play live, and Dario Zenker and DeWalta who'll be pitching in with DJ sets. Come 10am the fun will be decamped outside to Funkpark with Onur Özer, Mathias Kaden, Jeremy P. Caulfield, Dario Zenker and DeWalta, who'll all slapping on the sunscreen (hopefully).
