  • Madrid's Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is set to host the two-day HyperSounds festival in November. The concept behind the show is to highlight artists that have "produced outstanding work in the field of research into sound," and it seems like the curators have come up with a suitably varied programme of acts for the event. Friday 13th November sees Radio 1's dubstep doyenne Mary Anne Hobbs showcase the future of the genre, while Various Production will perform their sub-low folk fusion in a live setting. Techno will come from local artist Svreca, while Speedy J will showcase his new A/V surround sound collaboration, which he performs alongside Scott Pagano as Umfeld. The following day sees yet more forward thinking bass music from Glaswegian upstart Rustie, but there's also mantra-led improvisation from Shit & Shine, electro from D1, Semantica's Annie Hall, and more techno from local scene stalwart HD Substance. Both nights will also feature two installations from Edwin Van Der Heide, who graduated in Sonology from the Royal Conservatory in Rotterdam, and a film produced by David Sylvain concerning improvisation in music. All of the performances are free of charge until they are full, and organisers are urging attendees to pre-book seats for performances in the venue's auditorium to minimise disappointment.
