  • FabFilter have released details of their first EQ plug-in, the Pro-Q. Having produced a number of much-loved filter, compressor and synthesizer plug-ins, Dutch developer FabFilter have now taken the logical step of turning their attention to the EQ market. The Pro-Q is a 24 band affair with multiple filter shapes and 6, 12, 24 and 48dB slopes. Users are able to flick between either a zero latency mode or a linear phase mode with adjustable latency, while signals can be monitored in real-time thanks to the Pro-Q's frequency analyzer with pre- and post-EQ modes. As users of FabFilter's previous plug-in offerings will likely attest, the products are a breeze to use, and from the looks of the above screen shot, the company's "what-you-use-is-what-you-see" philosophy looks set to continue. Perhaps most importantly, though, what about the sound? Said to be based on "state of the art filter algorithms," the Pro-Q goes down the analog modeling route and includes unlimited internal headroom which means no nasty clipping issues. FabFilter's Pro-Q is available now and priced EUR 139, USD 199 or GBP 124.
