Rick Wilhite plays two European dates

- The Detroit house stalwart will DJ in both the Netherlands and Belgium next month.
- Rick Wilhite will head to mainland Europe for a pair of shows in early February. Wilhite commands a lot of respect from fellow DJs and musicians in his Detroit hometown, with his The House Of New Music and Vibes record stores being essential stops for any self respecting vinyl jock before their closure in late '08. The sample-based house of his solo productions used to be much sought after before their recent re-release on Rush Hour, and he's also a member of the 3 Chairs collective alongside Moodymann, Theo Parrish and Marcellus Pittman. What with all this history behind him, you might expect Wilhite to be more of a regular fixture on the European clubbing circuit, but gigs on the mainland are few and far between, with most of them occurring in England. The English will be missing out this time around, however, as Wilhite will descend on Ghent's Waterfront club for his first show on Friday 5th February before heading over to Amsterdam for a party hosted by Rush Hour on the Sunday. The reissues of the Soul Edge and The Godson EPs have brought Rick's music to a new generation of house music fans, so expect to see quite a few younger revellers there amongst the old school heads.
