The Seattle-based producer will do gigs across the continent in May.
Initially an elusive side-project, his recent album for Ghostly International has seen his sound lose what little beat may have tethered it before to what some saw as a vague allegiance to the dance floor, Irissari stated in a recent interview with RA that the new album was much more inspired by gigs he'd done in churches and other sit-down venues rather than at Berghain or Sonar. Working in collaboration with the ex-drummer from English shoegaze darlings, Slowdive, and housing an ethereal vocalised cover of Joy Division, the result is an even more ambient affair than 2008's Glider. Accordingly, his first date in Seattle is with the Icelandic experimental composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. Irissari will then be joined by another solo multi-instrumentalist, Svarte Greiner, whose sound involves effects laden string instruments are slowed down into a creeping acoustic doom music.
