- A new collection of modern disco tunes is due for release this summer.
Lo Recordings are set to release the next installment of their Milky Disco series, this time subtitled to.the.stars.
Every year since 2007, the eclectic London-based label has put out a new Milky Disco compilation (2008 saw the release of Milky Disco 1.5), each of which purveys the contemporary style known as cosmic or nu-disco. to.the.stars. features many of the series' usual suspects, such as Hatchback, Black Mustang and Black Devil Disco Club, plus unexpected newcomers like American drone artist Oneohtrix Point Never. As with the previous installments, the overall vibe is groovy, atmospheric and often kraut-rock inspired.
In a first for the series, one disc of Milky Disco 3 will be mixed by Lo Recordings man Jon Tye, who releases under the name Milky Globe on occasion. The other disc will feature many of the same tunes in their full, unmixed versions. The release comes almost exactly a year after Milky Disco 2: Let's Go Freak Out!.
