  • Promoters BigDishGo and Surge will embark upon their first joint event in Dublin next month, with Ellen Allien set to headline. Since her first release back in 1995 Ellen Allien has been something of a fixture on the Berlin electronic music landscape. As boss of BPitch Control she rose to prominence at the beginning of the last decade and continues to enjoy a place among the German capital's foremost electronic music exponents. Her latest full-length offering, entitled Dust, was released in May of this year and demonstrated the versatility of style and production values on which she has built her reputation. Alex Smoke, meanwhile, has spent the best part of a decade honing his particular brand of dark and twisted electronic music, and with the recent release of Lux showcased a much more glitchy and dubstep-oriented sound. Given his penchant for the the sinister and his classical music background it will come as no surprise that Smoke recently revealed that he is working on a film score for the 1926 German classic Faust. It will be strictly business as usual in Dublin, though, as those in attendance will be treated to a taste of his energetic live show. Support on the night arrives via Dublin-based selector Al Keegan.
