  • Ableton and Softube have announced details of a joint plug-in venture named Amp. Even a cursory glance at the below video should be enough to suggest that the focus of Amp has been placed on simplicity. The plug-in aims to emulate the sound and style of classic amps and cabinets, and is actually split into two separate effects to reflect this. Amp will be all about straight-up distortion via the option of seven amp models—Clean, Boost, Blues, Rock, Lead, Heavy, Bass—while Cabinet offers a selection of guitar cabs to run your selected sound through, along with optimized mics and mic positioning. You also get 400 presets to mess around with if the task of finding your desired tone is too great too bear. Amp is included with Ableton Suite 8 and is available separately for €99/$129.
