- A new collection looks back on the house icon's early works.
Rush Hour Recordings will release a collection of old tunes by Michigan native Matthew Chicoine, AKA Recloose next month, simply entitled Early Works.
As many will have already heard, Chicoine's career jump-started in the late '90s when he found himself serving food to Carl Craig at a restaurant in Ann Arbor, and slipped him a demo tape along with his sandwich (or so the story goes). This chance encounter landed Recloose four 12-inches on Planet E over the next few years, including Spelunking, So This Is the Dining Room and Can't Take It. Early Works takes selections from these three records and packages them with previously unreleased material that was recorded around the same period, with seven unreleased tracks in all.
Rush Hour has also released two vinyl mini-compilations of Recloose's earlier work, though the CD version has six more tunes overall. You can peruse Philip Sherburne's write-up of the first 12-inch right here.
