  • Rub N Tug's Eric Duncan will be playing a two dates in Australia for New Year's, stopping into Sydney and Melbourne. Duncan has been one of New York's finest disco DJs for much of the '00s. His partnership with Thomas Bullock under the Rub N Tug moniker has spawned several well-received commercial mixes, including their 2006 effort for Fabric. On the production front, their reworks for artists like LCD Soundsystem and Roxy Music further cemented their international reputation, all while maintaining a strong presence in underground disco circles. Duncan will land in Australia later this month, where he'll be heading up a two New Year parties. Sydney's Picnic warehouse party on December 31st will be the first in line, where he'll share the booth with another exponent of the U.S.'s disco underground, Lovefingers. The next day he'll head south to Melbourne for Animals Dancing at The Mercat Basement. In anticipation of his upcoming Australian dates, we recently caught up with Duncan over email.
Seeing as it's that time of year, tell us about some of your 2010 highlights. Definitely my trips to Croatia. Garden Festival was awesome. Also, the RA parties in Barcelona during Sonar were so much fun. I love Barcelona! Japan was awesome - went three times this year. I have so many great friends there so it's always a good one. All the places I've been this year have been great. How's the album coming along? Last time we spoke to you it was in its final mixdown stages. Still there at the final mixdown. We're going pop out a teaser 12-inch on our own very soon. What's next for Keep It Cheap? The label definitely started off on the right foot this year. We're going to "Keep" putting them out. I want to try for once a month, but that never seems to happen. The third one should be out at end of January with a special guest editor on one of the sides. When was the last time you were in Australia? You must be looking forward to some New Year's sunshine. I can't remember the last time I was there - maybe four years ago? I've been going down there since 1994, and have some good old buddies in Sydney. I'm really looking forward to it. My girlfriend is coming along as well and we're staying till mid January. It'll be a nice little holiday in the sun. Finally, what goes into a good edit? For me, it's a good intro, a great break and, if you're lucky, a good ending with a nice vocal always makes you feel good.
