- A collection of 15 previously unreleased tracks from the Chicago duo will hit stores in February.
Rush Hour Recordings is set to release a collection of early demos by early Chicago house duo Virgo, entitled Resurrection.
Merwyn Sanders and Eric Lewis enjoyed a surge in popularity last year, and they owe most of it to Rush Hour, who re-released their 1989 self-titled album in March. The record became one of 2010's most well-received house albums, and led Virgo (also known as Virgo Four) on a European tour. Resurrection continues to pillage the pair's back catalog, only this time all the material is previously unreleased. According to Rush Hour, Merwyn and Sanders recorded hundreds of tracks between 1984 and 1990, but none of this material ever saw the light of day, due to "local record business politics and disinterest." The upcoming compilation dips into this trove of early demos, with 15 cuts on CD and twice as many in a five-piece vinyl box set (details for which are still forthcoming). All of the tracks have been mastered for this release.
