- Ratatat and Bobby Gillespie guest on the Brazilian group's third album.
CSS will release their third album, La Liberación, this August on V2.
The indie dance outfit first made a splash with their 2006 debut album Cansei De Ser Sexy, which came out on Sub Pop and included singles like "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above" and "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex," which became one of the highest charting songs by a Brazilian group ever after it was licensed for an Apple commercial. The new album offsets the group's trademark party lyrics with more introspective fare—for instance, singer Lovefoxx says the song "City Grrrl" is a reflection on growing up as a social misfit.
"I revisited my teenage years while living in the suburbs of my hometown. I'd be on the floor of my bedroom making the most ridiculous clothes and glue fake colored hair or x-ray pictures on clothes. I'd be sporting goth make up at 8 AM and when I hit the streets people would curse me from their cars in the most aggressive way."
Guest appearances come from Brooklyn duo Ratatat and and Primal Scream vocalist Bobby Gillespie.
