  • Marcel Dettmann and Tama Sumo will head stateside next month for parties in New York and Chicago. Both Dettmann and Tama Sumo (real name Kerstin Egert) have been spinning since the early '90s, and both are now resident DJs under the same roof in Berlin: Dettmann holds court at Berghain with his raw, hard hitting techno while upstairs at Panorama Bar, Tama Sumo lays down epic sets of classic house. Both have immortalized the sounds of their respective dance floors on Berghain and Panorama Bar mix CD's, released through the venue's in-house label, Ostgut Ton. Their weekend in the US starts on Friday, August 19th in New York, where they'll play the Bunker, one of Dettmann's favorite parties abroad. He'll take over the club's back dance floor while Tama Sumo headlines the front room, with Bunker residents Spinoza and Eric Cloutier providing warm-up sets. The following night, the two Berliners head to Chicago to play Smart Bar; it will be Tama Sumo's first appearance in the Windy City, and Dettmann's second after a smashing debut at the venue last year during Sonar Chicago. The club's own Tyrel Williams will be on hand to start the night.
