- The American duo show their post-punk roots on the next edition of the long-running series.
MGMT have compiled the next edition of LateNightTales, due for release on October 7th.
The American duo may be known for electronic indie pop tunes like "Electric Feel" and "Kids," but LateNightTales shows a darker and more subtle sensibility. Post-punk and art rock dominate the tracklist: Suicide, Spacemen 3, Julian Cope and The Durutti Column all make the cut, along with '60s Christian folk singer Dave Bixby and The Velvet Underground (who also appeared on the last edition of LateNightTales, mixed by Trentemoller). Keeping up the brooding mood, MGMT deliver their own cover of "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything" by Bauhaus. Following from the last edition, LateNightTales finishes with the next section of music journalist Paul Morley's short story "Lost for Words."
