Formerly The Fridge, the London venue launches this month.
Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell top the bill on the opening night of Electric Brixton on Saturday, September 24th.
Formerly known as The Fridge, the new South London is the result of a two-year, £1,000,000 refurbishment. The site was originally a cinema built in 1913, and Electric Brixton has restored the original decor while installing a new sound-system. The space has a capacity of more than 1,500, and will act as both a nightclub and live music venue.
The opening night will feature Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell, who have presumably made up since their spat over samples in DJ Hell's "The DJ." Londoner Hannah Holland of Bastard Batty Bass is also on the bill, with support from Bugged Out regular JoJo De Freq.
Next weekend will see the launch of Spectrum's residency. Pete Jordan’s 2001-born club-night will be settling in at Electric Brixton with a typically eclectic lineup headed by veteran London breakbeat pair Stanton Warriors. The duo will be joined by Northern Irish techno trio The Japanese Popstars, who will play live, Brighton-based electro-indie duo South Central and a range of dubstep artists.
Later this year, Electric Brixton will host Get Physical with M.A.N.D.Y., Gilles Peterson and friends and Kissy Sell Out's Turn It On Tour as well as Get Loaded's weekly Friday club-nights. Full listings are still forthcoming.
