The German DJ, singer and producer will play two gigs on the east coast next month.
Now a fixture of the German label Suol, Kalkbrenner's profile has risen steadily ever since the release of Sky and Sand, a track he made with his brother (Paul Kalkbrenner) in 2009 and that appeared in the film Berlin Calling. His 2011 crossover single "Right in the Dark," lifted from his debut album Here Today Gone Tomorrow, has further contributed to the singer and producer's appeal this year. After a frantic touring schedule over the past 12 months, Kalkbrenner will be making his first trip out to Australia, albeit a brief one, with live sets booked in for Melbourne and Sydney on the 16th and 17th of December respectively.
The Sydney show will be at Chinese Laundry with DJ Serafin in support, whilst the Melbourne show at Billboard the Venue will also be headlined by Octave One and John Roberts. Tickets to the Melbourne gig are available through RA.
