Chicago's Rockers Sound System will celebrate one year of operation next Wednesday at Smart Bar.
Since December of last year, Rockers has taken over Smart Bar every first Wednesday of the month with veteran Chicago jocks Ron Trent, Jevon Jackson and Diz as residents. Drawing inspiration from Jamaican sound system culture of the '50s, the DJs use a rotary mixing console in place of the usual club mixer. King Britt and Jeff Mills are among the party's recent guests. The Rockers residents will take turns on the decks for next Wednesday's anniversary, and to sweeten the deal, complimentary massages will be offered.
