  • Sydney bass artist Eugene Hector, better known as Dro Carey, has been forced to cancel the remainder of his Australian tour due to worsening health conditions. Promoters of the upcoming Goodgod show this Saturday the 14th of January have organised a last-minute replacement benefit to raise awareness and funds for national depression initiative Beyond Blue. In November of last year, Hector discussed his mental health battles in an RA feature, explaining that his depression "greatly interfere[s] with preparation and performance." This has been the obstacle preventing a Dro Carey tour in the past and is the cause of the recent cancellation. Astral People, Hector's management company and the promoters of Saturday night's gig, have announced that the night will now be a fundraiser for the charity Beyond Blue, with 100% of door takings and 50% of bar profits being donated to the organisation. Dro Carey will be replaced by a secret headliner from Los Angeles hip-hop and electronic label Stones Throw to be announced on the night. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged and includes local artists 48/8, Hensen and Option Command. The party will run from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM and entry will be by donation.
