- The Brooklyn-based producer will release her first solo album on Hyperdub in May.
American producer Laurel Halo will release her debut album through Hyperdub in May.
Halo came to prominence in 2010 when Hippos in Tanks released King Felix, an EP that RA's Michaelangelo Matos wrote "evinces the kind of tune sense you'd associate with the young Kate Bush, with a similarly windswept romanticism." Since then, she's become a tastemaker favourite, with profiles in FACT and The Guardian, along with earning the debut release on Mute's new "experimental" offshoot Liberation Technologies under the name King Felix. Her debut solo album comes via Kode9's Hyperdub imprint, a label that has increasingly left genre behind with releases from the likes of Hype Williams and King Midas Sound. The colorful cover is a detail from Harikiri Schoolgirls 2002 by Makoto Aida.
