  • US developer Livid Instruments has unveiled a new modular controller platform, Elements. Elements is based on the simple (but hitherto under-explored) premise of a modular MIDI controller, built to the widespread Eurorack specifications. The upshot of this is that users can more easily create their own modules (including the company's own DIY Omni boards and new Hardware Development Kit) for Elements or purchase them from the newly available Livid range. Modules so far include various combinations of mainly sliders, buttons and knobs. Two cases are presently available: the single row Skiff 80 which houses four modules, and the double row Dual 80 which can contain up to eight. The Elements system sports a USB port, MIDI in and out jacks and an optional 5v power supply. The below video offers an introduction to Elements.
