  • James Holden will play a short string of dates in the US in August and September. Holden was known as one of the biggest progressive house DJs of the early '00s when he emerged at a young age (his Balance mix series entry was #6 in our countdown of the best mixes of the past decade). In 2003 he founded Border Community, a label that's had releases from the likes of Nathan Fake, Luke Abbott, and of course Holden himself, revealing a penchant for melodic techno influenced by the gauzy textures of shoegaze. Since then Holden has released mixes for the At The Controls and DJ-KiCKS series, both of which received positive reviews here on RA. Holden's first stop will be at the sixth anniversary event for Los Angeles party Incognito at King King Club on August 31st, which will also be his only West Coast appearance. The next day he'll head to New York City to play MoMA PS1's Warm Up series, where he'll join Kassem Mosse and Om Unit. On September 2nd, Holden will end his US jaunt at the Electric Pickle in Miami for their fifth anniversary celebrations, with the rest of the lineup still TBA.
